Alamo was way over booked, had no vehicles left in the class I had ordered, kept trying to give me vehicles in a lower class. They then tried to give me a giant pick up truck which did about 8mpg. Eventually they came back with a similar model which I agreed to take but regretted immediately, it was a Chevy Captiva, truely horrible to drive, visibility was awful - I can't believe that was a car people actually buy - On top of this it stunk of a mixture of BO and urine, it clearly hand't been clean and there were suspicious white stains on the back seats. I rang them to complain and they told me they now had my class in stock and to come back and change, I arrived 15 minutes later and they again had no cars from the class I ordered. They wouldn't let me take any of the vehicles I wanted and would only give me a Dodge Grand Caravan. It was very annoying as for 2 of us it was pointless. On the plus side the check in kiosks are quick to use however what I also didn't know is that if you go direct with Alamo you can check in online and go straight to the garage which would have saved further time - One thing though make sure you do one or the other because the queue for a desk clerk was massive. All in all very annoyed with Alamo, I'm not sure I would use them again as they seem to pay no attention to number of reservations against fleet size and driving around the smelly awful car for a ocuple of days started the holiday off on a bad note.

A brilliant service from US car hire. Website was easy to navigate and the prices quoted were by far the cheapest. Will definitely use again.

Car - great as usual ! However, having previously had to line up for over 90 minutes to get a car, I took the time to do the pre-registration to allow use of the self service kiosk to avoid queue, unfortunately it didn't work and sent me back to the line. So having walked past an initial line of 3 or 4 people, it had tripled to 10 or 12 by the time I had tried and been rejected by the kiosk, so another hours wait. This is the big problem at Orlando.

3 cars available to choose from, we picked a Jeep Patriot, in hindsight not the best choice. Fine for a one week hire but not for a 31 day hire, no comforts, very basic. Female who served us a Alamo desk in Key West was the grumpiest person ever met. Expected us to sign contracts that had wrong info on and got angry when we queried it. We have booked thru USCar hire before and will so so again.

Very quick and efficient service at collection and return of car. Had a minor problem, but was sorted out very quickly with minimal inconvenience to us. Thank you for a wonderful service. Easy to drive and comfortable ride. Plenty of space in cabin but boot isn't as big as you'd imagine for suitcases. A high boot floor and a curved rear door restrict flexibity. Reversing camera useful & mpg of 20 is offset by cheap fuel. Be careful at pumps as diesel is a green nozzle & unleaded is black!

Had a problem with the first car as the fuse for the SatNav kept blowing which meant we couldn't use it until we swapped the car out and SatNav after a few days. There were no issues with swapping the car out and the guys at Alamo (at Orlando Airport) were great at sorting out replacements.

Rental process at Sanford Orlando was excellent with an easy collection with Alamo. During the holiday I had a problem and needed my vehicle changed twice. This was done immediately and very quickly by Alamo staff

Generally all very smooth. Only complaint is the madness of the car hire desk at SFO! The queue for Alamo was ridiculously long and the attitude of the woman that served me was distinctly lacking in good customer service - it was almost as if I was an inconvenience. They also did not have our car immediately available for us. Eventually one of their own staff decided just to give us a better car just to get us on our way! Drop off of the car was very efficient though. Cannot recommend enough that people pre-register for the Self Service kiosk at SFO - please highlight that more when taking bookings. Also worth advising people that there are no toll tags required in most of California unlike Florida for example.

Car was fine. New, clean and everything working but low spec. It was just big enough for the luggage for 5 people (two kids) for two weeks. The ALAMO quick pass machines worked and saved queuing but had to go through the process twice as it did not like the credit card initially. Interesting that a lot of the other rental agencies had no queues at desks whilst Alamo's was big. Biggest point of all: Make sure you have plenty ($10.00 worth) of low value coins as there are tolls everywhere to get out of the damn airport at Orlando - quarters and half-dollars ideally. The cars do seem to come with a toll-pass at $4.00 per day used but this is in the small print - not something you read after 10 hours on the plane and 90 minutes in arrivals.

We used the Alamo Kiosks, very impressed, quick and easy to use, making for the fastest turn around from entry to the Alamo office to driving away in the car we have ever experienced. The only slight disspointment was the lack of car choice, only one left in the lot for our car type, which was a rather unattractive Jeep Patriot. That said the car was perfectly fine and in good order, although it hadn't been valeted inside and I suspect was placed there on a quick turnaround to save Alamo having to upgrade us.
