Disappointing. Very limited choice of cars in the line that we could choose from. The car we did choose was OK but very basic level of trim, no automatic lights etc. Very disappointed that after a 29 day rental returning the car 3 minutes over their 30 minute grace period cost us over $25. The guy who issued our receipt was very apologetic that he couldn't remove the charge and said to go to the desk to see if a manger would remove it. The woman on the desk refused point blank and said it should only be a 15 minute grace period anyway. We probably should have confirmed that they offered a 60 minute grace period the same as Dollar who we usually use. Using the kiosk took far longer than using the Dollar express desk. Son in law who arrived on a different day also had a bad experience with Alamo (he had booked his car directly through them not through this site) despite having all the the necessary insurance they convinced him that he needed extra to cover injuries if they were involved in an accident (included on their travel insurance) or if their car broke down (breakdown already included but actually sold him the roadside assistance insurance) . After a 4 hour delay and with a 6 month old baby who was throwing up everywhere he agreed. After bad experiences with Alamo in the past and our experience this time we will be going back to Dollar for our next rental.

The small suv was the worst. It was a Chevrolet and essentially not a 4 x 4. I will not rent such a vehicle again.

Excellent service,everything went according to plan.Slightly more expensive than others but you get what you pay for. The only downside was Alamo Save Time checkin which unfortunately at Fort Myers (RSW) Airport meant we still had to wait at the counter, which just duplicated all that was done online.

The problem we had was at the pick up there were no mid size SUV signs and the first two members of staff we spoke to neither spoke or read English. The third member sent us to SUVs and then finally we bumped into an English speaking member of staff who showed us the two mid size SUVs available.

Good value for money, service good at Sanford Airport with Alamo. 4/5 Simply because we did not get the car we thought we would get. We were given a Jeep Cherokee Latitude "as a free upgrade" even though they didn't have anything else and it was the same class as ordered. Horrible vehicle - uncomfortable, gutless engine, no storage space, and only room for 2 big suitcases with little visibility out of rear window. Avoid this vehicle like the plague. Plus point - reasonable mpg and bluetooth system for your phones and entertainment systems.

Everything was fine except when I picked up the car Alamo tried to sell me the additional breakdown cover that I had taken out with you. The mid-sized SUV was ample for a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 kids) including all of our luggage and very ecomonical on fuel, 900 miles cost approx $70.

Friendly, courteous, knowledgeable and extremely efficient staff both at pick up of vehicle and at the return process. Second time we have used Alamo and we would definitely use this caring company again, should we visit America again. We will definitely recommend Alamo to our friends and family.

I think its about time you upgraded the rental desk card readers to read all UK credit cards - I'm fed up with hearing 'Your card has been declined' and then a point blank refusal to phone the company and check the card... the card works fine everywhere else by the way.

Very straightforward process and everything worked well. Really good to be able to use the kiosk when collecting the car from Alamo in LA as there was no hassle from salespeople. Returning the car was extremely easy and quick. We would definitely hire via US car hire again.

first class, very nice car, very clean, i just wish you could get this car in uk , alamo were very good with nice friendly staff and no hassle at pick up desk, we were all sorted in 5 mins. would definately use alamo again when travelling to usa.
