When it comes to dining out in and around the Disney area you will not be disappointed. There are literally hundreds of restaurants in the area to satisfy most tastes. We've listed a few of our favourites below that you may want to try.
Red Lobster - Mainly seafood as the name suggests, but steaks and chicken as well. The lobster and shrimp are wonderful, and the service is always good. Each meal comes with cheese biscuits (scones), which are great and you, have as many as you want, and a salad. Drinks are extra. Main course prices from around $10 to around $25 per person.
Don Pablo’s - Good Mexican food in a large cantina environment. They sometimes have live Mexican music. Food portions are large and come with salsa and tortillas to start. Fajitas are great at around $12 or they are on special on Wednesdays at around $8.
Golden Corral - All you can eat buffet, basic place like a café. Breakfast is good as is the dinner menu, they also serve lunch although we have never been at lunchtime. There is a massive selection of savouries on the dinner menu (steak, chicken, pot roast etc and lots of vegetables)and an excellent dessert bar with cakes, pies, pastries, cookies and ice cream. Cheap food and a lot of it at around $7 for breakfast including coffee, soda or Orange juice and $11 for dinner.
Cracker Barrel: - This is a shop and a restaurant. They have rocking chairs and checkers outside if you have to wait or you can browse inside the store. Old time American shopping and home-style cooking. Beef, chicken or catfish dinners (avoid the dumplings, not like UK ones, you have been warned) with sweet potato or mash with carrots, turnip greens etc. Try the Friday Fish Fry (cod) which is great at around $8 this is ten times better than UK fish and chips. If you have room check out the home-style deserts such as strawberry shortcake and are around $2-$3. You will find that a lot of Americans eat here.
Olive Garden: - Italian cuisine. Pasta’s, pizza’s, chicken and steak Italian style. Garlic bread sticks and salad (as much as you want) come with each meal. Nice décor, good service. Reasonably priced $8 - $15.
Carrabbas: - Italian cuisine as above but a little more up market with more variations on the steaks for example. $12 - $20
Outback Steak House: - Australian steak house, which is very popular. Good atmosphere and service and great steak. Try the 14oz rib eye, which comes with a choice of 2 side dishes or the large pork chops (2). We can also recommend the fantastic rack of lamb that can be cut into chops (6) which comes with a rich Cabernet sauce. It’s best to go early evening or ring ahead to get your name on their list to avoid a wait.
If you visit the town of Celebration there are several top class restaurants. Two of our favourites are
Columbia Restaurant - Cuban and Spanish food in a really nice restaurant. Tapas, Paella’s and authentic Cuban dishes are served in a branch of one of the oldest restaurants in Florida. The service is good a little more expensive than some of the other restaurants but worth it, at up to $30 per person. Note lunchtime menu is the same but about a third cheaper.
Market Street Café - A fifties style diner for great breakfasts and lunches. Salads, Sandwiches and burgers and good coffee at reasonable prices. The Philly cheese steak is awesome! Just down the street from the Columbia.
There are also many fast food places in the area for burgers, pizzas, chicken etc. Choose from McDonald’s, KFC, Taco Bell, Burger King, Wendy’s, Long John Silver, Chick a fil A, Pizza Hut, Subway, etc. The list is endless.
If you prefer to eat in there are usually several supermarkets within easy reach. The main ones being Wal-Mart, Publix and Winn Dixie.
Take aways - Lots of the take away restaurants will deliver direct to your villa. Good ones are China 1 and Papa Johns Pizza, ask your villa owner for their recommendations.
