Where to eat in Orlando - Part 1 - Orlando / Florida Guide

Florida Guide > Dining

As a villa owner, I am often asked if I can recommend restaurants to eat in while in Orlando. Sometimes people think they may well cook at their villa, but trust me, you will be far too tired after a day at Disney World to want to think about shopping and cooking for meals. You may want to have the occasional BBQ when you are having a rest day from the parks, but even that becomes a bit of a chore when eating out is so inexpensive.

The main thing to remember about Orlando, is that you can eat the very best food in some of the mid price range restaurants. There are the very cheapies which I would not recommend, however, I will not name them in case I get sued! Just remember that if they are really cheap (under $10 for a main course) then they probably wont be that good. In the ones I would recommend, you will pay between $10. 99 and $15. 99 for a main course, plus dessert and drinks. They do have dearer things on the menu but they are usually just larger sizes i. e. steaks go from 8oz up to 32 oz!

Most of the ones I recommend are chains and you will find them all over the Orlando area. My favourite for excellent food and a very good price is Santa Fe. The one we go to is on H27 near the junction of H27 and H192. Their steaks are as good as any I have eaten anywhere. The setting is very rustic though, no ironed tablecloths here. Outbacks Steakhouse on H192 is more expensive as is Longhorns, also on H192 but the quality is about the same when it comes to steaks but the ambiance is far less rustic and may be more to your liking if you don’t like the idea of peanut shells all over the floor! Houlihans and Black Angus are not on my recommended list of steak houses.

If you are near Haines City, then a trip to Manny’s is a must. Their steaks are sublime, but the drawback is that you will hardly ever get a table without at least a half hour wait because they are so popular. You can telephone ahead but may still have to wait.

Please join me in part 2 where I will recommend some good restaurants that feature other specialities such as Italian and Chinese food.
