Vista del Lago is a beautiful tree-lined manufactured home resort located in a prime position less than 5 miles west of Disney. Set around several natural lakes and reserves, the resort is close enough to be right in the heart of the magic but is peaceful enough to offer tranquility in natural surroundings. The resort is so peaceful and relaxing, you' ll find it hard to believe you are literally just a few minutes from the hustle and bustle of the outside world.
The community is made up of a wonderful mix of permanent residents and visiting vacationers and is also hugely popular in the winter months by visiting ' Snowbirds' who make the resort their home to escape the cold northern states.
Although the area is extremely safe, the resort has the benefit of a gated entrance that is guarded 24 hours a day and the clubhouse is professionally staffed by a welcoming team who are available to help you with any questions you may have.
The resort offers an abundance of leisure activities and has three large communal pools (one with a disability hoist), a spa, a multi-million dollar clubhouse, two floodlit tennis courts, four floodlit shuffleboard courts, two floodlit racquetball courts, basketball, volleyball/badminton and a great children' s playground. There are several lakes in the community and the large 90 acre Raccoon Lake also has watersport activities such as water skiing and jet skiing and is stocked for fishing - 12lb bass have been caught here. The lake has a fishing/boat dock and boat ramp and the lakeside recreation areas provide picnic tables and bar-b-cues.
There is a poolside snack bar that offers a range of refreshments and often has a daily home-cooked special which is great value for money.
The Clubhouse has entertainment such as bingo and a stage that often offers live music and various activities or you could join in with the water aerobics and keep fit during your stay.
Talking of keeping fit, there is a fitness room with a selection of exercise machines and a sauna. For something a little less strenuous, the craft and ceramic store has a workshop where you can hone your crafting skills.
From water aerobics to fishing, Vista del Lago offers so much to do you might not have time to fit in Disney! There' s lots of social activities you can join in with if you wish - card games, movie nights, ice cream socials, pot luck dinners, fish and chip suppers, cookouts, picnics, pizza nights, pancake breakfasts, swim parties, Sunday brunch, kids time and summer camp, dances and live entertainment to name just a few activities. Sports equipment is available for you from the clubhouse. The Ballroom at the Clubhouse is also home to the Sunshine Christian Church.
For something a little more relaxing, take a stroll around the neighborhood and meet the extremely friendly residents who will make you feel right at home as soon as you arrive in the community. The natural landscaping attracts a wealth of birds and other natural wildlife and there is a preservation area with a bridge to the island.
The rolled, Miami style curbing throughout the community makes it extremely easy for wheelchairs, mobility scooters and strollers to get around the resort and the 20mph makes it very safe, especially for cycles and golf carts that are very popular modes of transport throughout the resort.
Depending on what time of year you visit, you will regularly find Holiday related events such as a Valentine Dance, Easter Bake & Craft Sale, St Patrick' s Day Party, Mother' s Day Celebration, Memorial Day Picnic and Cookout, 4th July Picnic and Parade, Halloween Parties, Thanksgiving Feast, Christmas Dinner and New Years Eve Party. There' s usually something for everyone!
At the entrance of the community, the ' Shoppes at Vista del Lago' offer several dining and shopping options such as Pizza Hut, a Chinese buffet restaurant, a Subway, Chinese take away and a pub with nightly entertainment and home cooked food.
Vista del Lago is set back off the busy US-192 Highway which is home to a multitude of restaurants and shops and the resort has a traffic light entrance making access to and from the 192 extremely easy. There' s a 24 hour Super Walmart just a few miles away and a Publix Supermarket, Target Superstore and several small shopping complexes even closer. Right across the road from the resort, within easy walking distance, is MacDonald' s, a 7-11 store with gas station, Bruno' s Italian Restaurant and a large Houllihans Restaurant Bar.
All in all, Vista del Lago offers something for all ages and is the perfect location to make as your base during your visit to Orlando.
