So you are taking an overnight trip to Hollywood Beach and you have young children with you. So what is there to do?
Well, lots actually!
You will want to spend some time on the beach and even in the sea in warmer months. After you have had your fill of the spectacular beach, why not head to one of the parks?
Hollywood Beach Park has a picnic area, a volley ball court and an observation tower. Best of all, during the correct season, they have a turtle hatching area. Do not plan your visit for a tuesday or a wednesday as it will be closed.
West Lake Park has a lake observation trail, play area and wetland reserve. Also various sports courts. Again, this park is closed on a tuesday and wednesday.
Topeekeegee Yognee Park has 5 playgrounds and various sports courts. Nice to have them honour the Native American in the naming of this park.
Arts Park at Youngs Circle has a free event every friday from 5 p. m. to 9 p. m. Face Painting, bouncy castle, magic show and Mama Clown and Friends. I would get there early so you can explore this wonderful park that has examples of
amazing art works and installations.
There is a good State Park if your family prefer a more natural setting. John U Lloyd beach has boating and kayaking and a nature trail. There was a beach cafe but I notice that is now closed so I suggest you take a picnic with you and take advantage of their picnic tables.
Hollywood Beach boasts two and a half miles of newly renovated broadwalk so you could hire bikes to explore its full length.
There are several concession that will rent you a bike and just for instance, The Blue Shack hires them.
The Surrey is fun and seats 6. This costs $20 an hour. You can capture such a great family photo on a Surrey with a beach backdrop. Beach cruiser bikes cost $15 for 2 hours and there are many other options to rent for an hour or a day.
This company will also rent you a jet ski or beach chairs, umbrellas and cabanas.
Cabanas are $26 and a 2 chair and umbrella combo is $26. The sun in Florida is fierce in the summer so a bit of shade is very welcome.
I really do recommend an overnight stay at this lovely beach resort and you will go back to your holiday villa refreshed and ready to face the frenetic parks with a new energy.
