Beautiful Montmorency Falls Parc de la Chute-Montmorency is a few minutes from Québec City. Located between the river and the cliffs, it' s one of the province' s most spectacular site.
Majestic Montmorency Falls is one of Quebec’s must-see attractions. At 83m in height, actually, 30m higher than 30m than famous Niagara Falls in Toronto. This natural wonder dominates the landscape, trails and observation decks offer excellent views of the waterfall, St Lawrence River, Ile d’Orleans and Quebec city.
At the park de la chute- Montmorency you will find the Lower terminal, this is your fun start point, there is a cable car ticket office, a boutique and a cafe.
From this point, you can take the cable car, climb aboard and keep your eyes peeled. While on the cable car, you can check out the snow-covered waterfall and the ice making its way all the way down. You will reach the Manoir Montmorency from the station at the river. Take the opportunity to admire the exceptional view.
The Manoir Montmorency with its architecture reminiscent of a majestic English villa, Manoir Montmorency is not to be missed. In winter, the hiking trails are accessible on foot or on snowshoes Go for a walk to the park's cove and admire the falls from several vantage points. Amid snow and ice, the water still surges over the falls. You might see a few ice climbers moving about on the frozen rock faces. . . here you will find showshoe rentals, a boutique and interpretation centre.
Via the promenade along the cliff, you will reach the suspension bridge where you will feel the waterfall rumbling under your feet. You will also be dazzled by the Sugar Loaf, a fascinating natural phenomenon caused by the spray of the waterfall that freezes and accumulates to form a cone of ice. For the return journey, take the promenade back to the Manoir since the panoramic stairway is not accessible during winter.
Discover the park and les resurgences trail that hugs Riviere Montmorency. Plus enjoy 3 kilometres of trails designed for hikers and snowshoers alike. Snowshoes can be rented as mentioned before at the Manoir Montmorency.
In Winter, ice climbers can tackle the frozen rock faces of cliffs that surround the falls. Introductory courses are available, inquiries can be made at the Manoir reception. It is an extraordinary experience filled with stunning scenery.
