Miami - Orlando / Florida Guide
Florida Guide > Other Florida
If you have never visited Miami I can defiantly recommend it. Miami has a lot to offer and see
South beach is the place we prefer to stay whist visiting Miami it is a vibrant place to stay, the hotels whilst not cheap are very good. We stayed at the Anglers resort hotel and it was superb most defiantly 5*. This hotel was just back a couple of streets from Ocean drive located on Washington avenue, but we found it Ideal as you are not far from the action but it was much quieter. There are lots of hotels to choose from.
There are lots of Art Deco hotels on Ocean drive all with wonderful colours and superb architecture
At night just to walk along Ocean drive was wonderful with lots of pavement restaurants offering delicious meals, we felt at night Ocean drive was just like being in Spain some many years ago. People were dressed up and just walking along seeing and being seen. I could have sat in the restaurants all night just people watching.
Another of the streets in South beach is Lincoln Avenue here you will find boutiques and very good restaurants
There are lots of organised tours to go on
The city tour goes to Little Havana, this is the area that the Cubans occupy, here you stop off and have a walk around where you find the men sat about playing cards and drinking Cuban coffee.
You then go onto Coral Gables this is an area where there are million Dollar homes, There is a large swimming pool that was excavated and the stone was used to build these million Dollar homes (the ultimate recycle) The pool was beautiful and looked like it was a film set. Local residents used this pool and there were lots of people in it when we were there.
The tour continues onto Coconut grove here there was a nice shopping area called coco walk with shops and restaurants, after that the tour finishes at Bayside, here there is a mall and as the name suggests a bay where you can get a boat tour that takes you round the bay to look at the stars houses, people like Shaq O’Neil, Gloria Estefan, plus many more. We were also pointed out an Island where people like Tom Cruse and Oprah Winfrey have apartments on but is only accessed by boat or helicopter.
There is also a tour round south beach this is called the Duck Tour.
