The sports calendar also becomes attractive: Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid will face each other up to three times in just a month period time, as they will play on January 7th and 13th to reach the next phase on the Copa del Rey tournament, while their league calendar will allow us watch them again on February 8th. Meanwhile top basketball and football teams of Madrid have to play also their games in city.
Gastronomy: restaurants and bars are also adapted to cold: you can enjoy a ‘’cocido madrileno’’ or ‘’callos’’ two typical recipes of our gastronomy. But if you rather some sweet: just have a hot chocolate with churros. They are, perhaps the most typical gastronomic delights of our region during these days. You must not miss the ‘’tapas’’.
Music: Spanish singers Victor Manuel, Pasion Vega and Bustamante are some of the great artists who will perform live in Madrid these days. Also a big event with popular singers and music bands performing at the Palacio de los Deportes at a concert which benefits will help the Spanish ALS Association. If you visit coincides with them, you can enjoy one of their concerts in Madrid.
If you are looking for something more traditional: every day can enjoy any of the flamenco performances of flamenco ‘’tablaos’’ scattered around the city, wer ecommend you: Tablao Flamenco La Quimera.
If you prefer to spend one day of your visit, away from Madrid and know other areas of the surrounding, we propose you to visit our ‘’one day trip’’ pages. Less than an hour’s drive or even moving by train, you can visit historic cities as Toledo, Alcala de Heranes and Aranjuez. Also, very close to Madrid are Chinchon, San Lorenzo de El Escorial or La Granja de San lldefonso. If you do not mind a slightly longer trip, do not miss the opportunity to go to Segovia, Avila or Cuenca.
Finally and just in case you love skiing: you can get away and sky. Although many do not know, Madrid has a ski resort: Valdesqui. It can be reached by car in just over an hour, driving on the A6 and the the M- 601, but it can also be reached by train and bus.
Definitely: Madrid never sleeps and is ready to serve you whatever you want: shopping, entertainment, culture, parks, concerts, … you will not have time enough to enjoy all that Madrid has to offer. We propose you, again, to sit in a café and enjoy a chocolate with churros, if you need a break from so many plans. Enjoy Madrid.
