Kelly Park, Rock Springs, Apopka - Orlando / Florida Guide

Florida Guide > Other Florida

Central Florida is home to many beautiful clear spring parks. Kelly Park, Rock Springs Apopka is just one of these and not too far from the Orlando vacation homes.

Kelly Park is in Apopka, Orange County north of Orlando. It’s around 250 acres in size and is renown for its clear spring waterand its free flowing stream.

Rock Springs bubbles up, not into a pool but into a running stream that lowly travels approximately one mile downstream. This is a natural alternative ‘lazy river’ to those provided at the commercial water parks! On a warm Floridian day, kids and adults enjoy sitting on tubes or floats, leisurely travelling downstream. This gentle ride takes around 25 minutes. During the journey there are well maintained (safe for the feet) wooden board walk exits where riders can get off and carry their tubes back to the beginning for another go. In the centre of the course there are a succession of lagoons and pools to enjoy or catch up with others in your group. If kids prefer, or do not have a tube, they can travel down without one but teenagers and adults may find the stream too shallow for a comfortable swimming. (For swimming you may want to try an alternative Spring park such as DeLeon Springs).

If you do not want to ride the stream it’s still a very pretty place to visit, with shaded picnic tables – some with barbeques nearby. Relax and enjoy the shores of the stream or the islands. You can walk up and down the boardwalks admiring the stream and watching the swimmers travel by.

Tubes aren’t available at the park so if you do plan on visiting Kelly Park and want to ride the stream, stop at one of the tube rental shops near the park entrance – it’s around $5 per day. It’s not the most peaceful of parks as it’s a great place for children – however youngsters do bring the place alive. And of course weekends can be busier than weekdays. A fun place for all the family to enjoy and see some of Florida’s natural beauty – and for a very low cost!

Admission costs adults and children $1 whilst under 5’s are free. You are free to leave and return to the park during the same day. No pets are allowed in the park. Fishing is not permitted at this park.

Open 9am – 7pm in the summer months and 8am – 6pm in winter.
