Boat Tours on St John River. - Orlando / Florida Guide

Florida Guide > Other Activities

Central Florida Airboat Tours is primarily located in Jolly Gators Fish Camp which is on the 46, East of Sanford at the Geneva Bridge.

Want to get up close to an alligator in its natural habitat or see a bald eagle soaring in the sky? well this outing is for you.

This operation is owned and run by Captain Bruce Fryer who has 30 years of experience under his belt and is Sanford born and bred so knows the area like the back of his hand.

The good thing to learn is that he has an absolute commitment to preserving St John River and its wildlife, something Florida takes really seriously. .

The best thing about these airboat rides is that there is a maximum of 6 people per boat (most often the airboats carry up to 20 folk at a time)

They can travel over river, swamp or land which means that they can explore all areas.

There is a choice of 2 tours as a standard offering. One of around 30 minutes and the other of twice that. There is also the option to do a longer tour at special request.

The half hour tour costs $20 per adult and $15 per child. The hour long trip costs $40 per adult and $30 per child.

They do seem to like you to book in advance and this is especially true of the longer tours.

No under fours are allowed to travel on any of the tours. Disabled people are catered for and the boats are easily accessed.

Start points are possible from several entry points on The St John River and the tours run every day of the weeek. On saturday and sunday it is possible to just turn up for a ride which leave half hourly from 10 a. m.

From time to time they have special events; for instance, you can watch a rocket launch from The St John River or watch the 4th of july fireworks from a good vantage point.

There is a cafe at Jolly Gators Fish Camp that you buy snacks and drinks from and the company supply all equipment you need. It is a good idea to take sunscreen, a sun hat, sunglasses and in the summer, insect repellant.

This sort of outing makes a nice change from the Theme Parks and shows your family the real Florida that has remailed largely unchanged for centuries.
