Prior to our departure we asked if Mustangs were available at SF Airport and were assured there would be. When we arrived, only two convertibles were available - A Chrysler and a Camarro. "We never get Mustangs" was the response from the guy at the desk. It also took quite some time for them to find the two convertibles that were available. Not a great start after an 11 hour flight.

The vehicle was good and performed very well. The only problem we had was trying to book in with the computer booking stations, when we tried this we got to the end of entering our details and it reported an error, We then were told to see an attendant at the desk, this cost us some extra time and the attendant said the system didn't work with foreign licences. Other than this the process was smooth.

Although any modification you may want to do there is no online way, us car hire staf is easily available, by email, to serve in whatever modifications you want. I had two modifications to be done, and it was all right.

Very pleased with the service from uscarhire but not so pleased with Alamo. We had booked an intermediate size (Toyota Corolla or similar). On arrival the desk clerk tried to persuade us to take a larger, less economical car for a 'small' additional cost. We declined but when we got to the vehicle collection area there weren't any intermediate size cars there. I thought I was going to be offered a choice of vehicles as has happened in the past. The attendant had to go to find a car from the preparation area. There was no choice! I took this car because I wanted to get on my way. I didn't realise until I'd left the site that there was a feint smell of cigarette smoke in the car, despite there being no smoking stickers on the dashboard. It was only a slight smell, otherwise I would have taken the car back again, but it has affected my rating of the experience.
