The pick-up of the car took quite some time. Alamo always has long lines which isn't nice after a long journey. This time there were only a few employees to help the waiting people. Quite some of the cars we had to choose from had a problem: empty batterie, chair missing etc. The car we choose didn't had the official key anymore with which you can open and close the doors from a distance. The return of the car went smoothly though and that was a plus. Next time I will choose US Carhire again but I hope Alamo will have either more staff of shorter lines!

The automated system at Alamo worked well, including pre-paying for fuel, which wasn't necessarily the best value per gallon but certainly made drop-off very smooth and straightforward at the end of the trip. Car performance was great, no problems at all -- we drove at least 2000 miles in a week. The drop-off was really well organized, by the way -- drive up, empty the car, leave keys in ignition, receive an instant printed receipt and join queue for shuttle, which was in plentiful supply.

When we arrived in Miami we were an equivalent to this would be a Chevrolet Traverse which was far smaller and was of no use to us. Very disappointed as we have used car hire for many years. If you like at the dimensions of both cars they are not the same and cannot be argued to be the same. We had to take this car as they was nothing else available unless we wanted to upgrade to a surbarban- totally unacceptable. Our children were squashed as they was no room for our luggage.
