There is nothing like a good zoo for a belting family day out and you will be glad to know that Tampa has one.
The zoo in Tampa is called Lowry Park and it is a non profit making organisation, so well worth supporting.
They have just announced an exciting line up events for this summer so if you are over in the next few months, cast your eyes over the goodies on offer.
First to mention is the family days out planned for july the 1st to the 7th. This has been named Red, white and ZOO ( geddit! )
There will be a scavenger hunt with prizes on the first day (I love a good scavenger hunt, but alas, I will not be there) and on the 7th there is a Summer Safari with a Teddy Bears Picnic.
THe zoo will stay open til 8 p. m. that night so grab your bear and join in the fun. There will be lots of animal encounters that day and the children just love those. Unlimited rides are on offer on that day as well.
July 22nd is the next dates to note as they have teamed up with Walmart to offer entrance for just $5! No rides are included in that offer but the thrifty should note that there is free parking in the car park next to the greyhound track and from there you can pick up a free shuttle.
Moving on to august the 4th, we must call all beer drinkers for they will be holding their annual beer festival.
This is called Wazoo (another pun lurking) and here there will be 260 beers on offer. The beers are sourced from all round the world so you are bound to find one that you love.
IN addition to the supping, there is some good food on offer and various artistes to entertain you.
THis festival has been voted in the top ten beer festivals in the U. S. A. and a ticket for this event will cost you just $50.
Whilst Tampa is not exactly on the doorstep, it is a fairly easy run from The Parks area.

Tampa' s Lowry Zoo has been named number one zoo in America by Parents magazine and is generally open from 9. 30 a. m. til 5 p. m.
