You can’t miss the large neon sign for Downtown Disney and Planet Hollywood as you drive down the I-4. Most people bump it on their way down from the airport to accommodation. Located right at the entrance to Downtown Disney the building is a very impressive creation (that looks great at night! ).
Planet Hollywood is designed around the movies and displays all types of memorabilia from over the years. Each area in the restaurant has a different theme and items displayed on the walls and ceiling. This is one of the main reasons that so many people are drawn to Planet Hollywood. It really does allow everyone to get close to Hollywood.
Obviously one of the main reasons to visit Planet Hollywood is for the food and here you will be pleased to know it does not disappoint. On the menu there is something for everyone. The main menu revolves around a good old American theme of Burgers, steaks and pasta dishes. When we visited the menu was some 5 pages and there was a huge selection. For the younger ones there is also something for them.
We have found that you can generally walk in and get a table, however the wait will depend on what time of year you go. We have been before in Nov and managed to get seated straight away, in Aug however we had to wait around 45 minutes for a seat. You can always book in advance and this does cut down your wait, but if you are late they will offer your table to others. The wait does not feel too bad as there is a large bar area, selling cocktails, beer and other spirits.
We normally don’t have a starter as they are normally too big, so instead go straight for the main meals. Of course we always manage to keep some space for the deserts! For those that like steak I would recommend one of their sirloin steaks, these come with fries and salad. For those that like spicy food they do have a very good Mexican menu and also hot pasta dishes.
Once you have eaten and are ready to leave why not visit the shop to buy a Planet Hollywood T-shirt. I did not think these were too expensive and are certainly better quality than the ones you can get on International Drive.
Overall I would rate Planet Hollywood as one of the better American style restaurants. It serves good food, has a very good atmosphere and excellent service. All in all a great night out for all the family.
