My favourite store in Orlando is J C Penny and in particular the one in The Florida Mall. Every time I visit they are having a sale and whenever I think I have had a good bargain, I get to the till to find they have taken even more money off. My average discount is usually 60%. They are a department store which sells everything.
They have a wonderful range of jeans at greatly reduced prices, my favourites are Gloria Vanderbilt designer jeans at $12. 99a pair. Fantastic bargain! They sell diamond jewellery as cheap as the UK sells cubic zirconia and they even do part exchange on your old unwanted jewellery. Their curtain and bedding department is a firm favourite for me as a villa owner and as a customer for my UK home.
Macy’s in the Florida Mall is great for owners either replacing goods or just newly furnishing as they offer the tax back to foreign visitors. Again, if you visit at sale time you will find some good bargains.
Dillards also in the Florida Mall is brilliant for cosmetics and accessories; their handbag range is huge. I usually wander around the ground floor for hours finding things I never new I needed until I saw them!
Bed, Bath and Beyond is a great place for all household goods. Their towels and bed linens are very unusual and are more than just plain colours. They have very cheap goods right up to very expensive high quality goods. It’s a good place for the latest kitchen gadgets too.
Ralph Lauren Factory Outlet in either of the Orlando Premium Outlets (one at the south end of International Drive and one in Vinelands Avenue in Lake Buena Vista) are a must visit every year for us. I have bought jackets at a fraction of the original price – one was originally $135 and I ended up paying $35 after all the discounts were taken off. We are usually dressed from head to toe in Ralph Lauren, even my sunglasses are Ralph Lauren.
In the Mall at Millenia there is a store called Pottery Barn which sells the most wonderful unusual gifts and household goods at reasonable prices. Great for buying Christmas presents. If you like high quality (and high priced) kitchen gadgets you will love Williams Sonoma, there is one in the Mall at Millenia and one in the Florida Mall. Some of their goods are still cheaper than in the UK, cooks knives in particular.
