DECK THE HALLS AT CELEBRATION part 1
On the first day of our visit to our villa in late November we all headed off to Celebration Town for my Father to visit his bank. We all rather suspect that he only has his account at Celebration so that he can visit it every holiday!
If you ever get the opportunity to go to Orlando late November early December it is a wonderful time of year to go, airfares are usually cheaper, all the Christmas decorations are up, the parks and restaurants are not as busy and you can do lots of Christmas shopping. If you are going to shop at the outlets like Premium in Vineland Avenue or International Drive be sure to go on-line and print out their discount vouchers before you go you will get lots of great bargains.
As we drove towards Market Street we were reminded of the magic of Christmas in Celebration as we passed many houses beautifully decorated for Christmas. The residents can enter into the official competition for the best decorated house. They enter by category e. g. 2 bed condo/ 3 bed detached/5 bed detached etc.
When you visit Celebration be sure to adhere to their strict parking restrictions and always park in the bay provided and with your car pointing n the right direction or you will incur fines. You may need to park a few streets away from the centre and walk.
Celebration famously advertises its nightly Christmas snowfall and this year the whole town was sporting “Deck the Halls” banners
As we parked we marvelled at the decorations on all the local shops and realtors. We then spied a giant sign advertising Christmas trees for sale and saw that several tents had been erected containing loads of beautiful trees giant inflatables and masses of poinsettia, you could even smell the trees from across the road. Celebration must be a very trusting community because there were not any assistants to serve but a large sign with a phone number for you to call if you needed assistance!
At the top of Market Street you will see a large synthetic ice rink where the children can skate during the month of December. There is a chalet type shed at the top of the ice rink and this is open mid- afternoon until after the snow stops falling during the evening. If you are in Celebration during the evening you would be forgiven for thinking you are in some far off colder climate as you watch the skating.
