We all love shopping but Aventura Mall, just north of Miami, and a short hop from the beaches, provides a great shopping experience. However, once it has been totally revamped it will be the most stylish retail mall in the area. With the four main retail stores, Macy’s, JC Penney, Bloomingdales and Sears, plus nearly 200 other stores, you will find everything you need.
Situated between Miami and Hallendale Beach, Aventura Mall is close to the I95, and with easy access from the Florida Turnpike or the Palmetto Expressway, you can also drive up via the fascinating A1A all the way from Miami.
One of the older malls in the area, Aventura Mall is undergoing major renovation work which will transform it from great to fantastic. The result will be a fresh and contemporary look to this popular shopping venue. The renovation is already underway and will take a total of nine months, during which time it will be expanded to include a new three level 232,000 sq ft wing of new stores and restaurants - but this will not be completed until the autumn of 2007.
When we visited in March 2006, work had only just started a month before, but it was possible to see the potential already. The major building work is being done at night, whilst during the day the presence of builders is barely noticeable. Astonishingly, complete floors will be replaced with fine Italian porcelain, with mosaic accent tiles at the storefronts. The interior railings will be replaced with sculptured glass and bronze railings, with rich wood caps. All the interior columns are going to be clad in luxury wood, giving a warm and natural effect, whilst the Grand Court will have an intricately patterned floor, and a new glass elevator.
If you feel like sitting and watching the world go by, or simply need to re-charge your batteries then there will be places to rest and relax in, with carpeted areas and custom seating. Importantly, the Food Hall, which at the moment is very understated, and rather old fashioned, will have a new floor and chairs, new air conditioning and a children's play area. Even outside, the mall will undergo a facelift, with $2.5 million being spent on the renovation of the three main mall entrances. An additional 1900 parking spaces will also be available.
We can’t wait to see the new and stylish Aventura Mall, and will certainly be visiting it on our next visit to Miami.
