A Visit to Main Street - Part 1 - Orlando / Florida Guide

Main Street can be very busy especially before during and immediately after the Parade so it is easy to miss all that there is to enjoy there. Some visitors just walk through it using the backdrop of Cinderella’s Castle and the balloon sellers for their family photos without realising how much it has to offer.
As you enter the Park you will see one of the carts marked as Main Street Transportation which has a good selection of sweets. We usually tell the girls they can have something to take home from here rather than indulging them as soon as we arrive.
On your right hand side you will see the imposing Town Square Theatre where you can meet the Storybook Disney Princesses and/or the Master Magician Mickey Mouse. You will find the waiting time boards under both the banners.
Here you will also find City Hall and if you are visiting Magic Kingdom on your birthday you can go in and they will give you a birthday badge to wear then as you go around the Park all the cast members will be wishing you Happy Birthday.
The Train Station is also situated here and its balcony which overlooks Main Street is a great vantage point to watch the parades as these start and finish from the Car Barn on the left of the Square.
Near to the Car Barn you will see the Engine Company which used to be the old Fire Station but I am not sure if it is still in use.
There is a good restaurant here called Tony’s Town Square Restaurant but if you intend to eat here it is wise to make a reservation in advance.
The boys can even get their hair cut in Main Street at the barber’s shop and there is also a caricature stall that you can buy beautifully framed sketches of your children at.
If you need any supplies for your camera call into Main Street Theatre. Nearby you will find a shop that sells really good toffee apples as well as Mickey cakes.
The Emporium has a vast array of clothes and can get very busy be sure your party have all agreed a meeting place if you go in here in case you get separated. We usually decide to meet back up by City Hall if this happens.
Other shops to be found here include a confectionery shop, various gift shops and a shop that sells watches and clocks.
